Mid March Updates

Cookies at the Capitol

Earlier this month, NORML AZ delivered a hopeful message to the Arizona Chairwoman Health Committee. With the help of a non-medicated cookie donation from Cornucopia Infusions, Mikel delivered a cookie message to Republican House Member Heather Carter, chairperson for the House Health Committee. Heather is well known in the community for her work with education groups, veteran organizations, and many healthcare and patient advocacy groups. Cornucopia Infusions are well known in Arizona dispensaries producing quality product. Edibles are a optimal way for people to take medical marijuana. Having a tangible product in hand might be a good way to build rapport with legislative representatives.

Car Troubles
March’s NORML AZ monthly chapter meeting was cancelled. NORML AZ host and director, Mikel Weisser, was experiencing some car trouble and was unable to make it back to the valley. He was deeply saddened that he could be here to attend this week’s important announcements but was fortunately able to spend some time with his wife, Beth, for her birthday. He is currently managing editor over at Cannabiz Now.

Lunch & Learn, AMMA PAC

On March 7th, Chad and I attended the AMMA PAC Lunch and Learn with Legislative Meet and Greets.

Arizonans were invited to attend AMMA’s Lunch and Learn. About 30 members of the community stood in support of the medical marijuana community during hearings. We had the larger support base above the Educational board members in attendance, but the Arizona tourism supporters seemed to outnumber us all.

We also had the opportunity to meet with our Senator and bring awareness to our cause. Taylor (AMMA organizer) was practically giddy, proclaiming “We’re going to flood his office!” And flood it, we did.

Senator Meza was very enthusiastic to shake hands and listen to every one’s introductions.  The room consisted of representatives from medical marijuana advocacy groups, concerned citizens, business owners, patients, truth-seekers, and others gathered to show their support in one way or another. He seemed very accepting of medical marijuana, but did show some hints to opposition of full legalization when he asked if we all supported “medical”.

The AMMA PAC was an excellent field trip day, especially for those who are confused about local political happenings.

Herbal Risings Class – March 12th – Mikel unable to make it – Continued car troubles

Due to continued car trouble, Mikel could not  attend the Herbal Rising budtending class scheduled at the Staff MMJ TerpU Campus. Mikel was scheduled to deliver his “cannabis in history” speech. As event planner of that location, I would like to thank my friend, David Wisniewski, for stepping in to fulfill that vacant spot, to which he utilized his time to talk about the Safer Arizona initiative.
