Marijuana has the potential to be such a uniting factor, bringing together individuals who may otherwise not cross paths. Take for instance Hip Hop artists A$AP Rocky and Action Bronson. Well over two years after its release, actress Susan Sarandon has responded to her name being used in a 2013 A$AP Rocky track. Action Bronson, also known as Bronsolino, referenced Sarandon’s name on his guest verse on A$AP Rocky’s hit record “1Train”, appearing on Rocky’s debut studio album Long.Live.A$AP in 2013. For those who are unfamiliar or need a memory jog, Bronson used the phrase, “You see us scramblin’, sellin Susan Sarandon, the cloud of smoke like the Phantom”. Anyone not understanding the reference can easily decipher what the stanza means via a quick check on Rap Genius. Sarandon, Academy Award and 5-time nominee, is a noted marijuana advocate who has spoken publicly many times on the harms of its prohibition. She even helped send out calls to encourage voters in Colorado to support Amendment 64, which eventually passed with 55% of voters in favor. In any case, Saradon either listens to very little Hip Hop music, or this particular track somehow slipped through the cracks for the past two years. Yesterday morning, Sarandon took to Twitter in order to, and in this order: thank the rappers for her shout out on the 2013 track, acknowledge that she wasn’t quite sure what it meant, and offer to burn one down while finding out what the reference meant.
