Arizona NORML will their statewide legalization education tour to Kingman, Sunday Nov 10 to inform the public about harm caused by cannabis prohibition and the new Smart and Safe Arizona legalization initiative. As AZ-NORML State Director Mikel Weisser explained, “While it is true most of the state population lives in the PHX metro area, we’re a statewide organization and this election cycle we are taking legalization education to rural Arizona and give everyone a chance to participate.”
This event will provide a breakdown of the new Smart and Safe Arizona initiative, in addition to general cannabis education, summary of the Smart and Safe Arizona initiative and live music featuring a road show version of Weisser’s PHX-based music group, #anormlband.
This event is part of a series of rural legalization education/musical events AZ-NORML intends to create during the next year leading up to the 2020 election. Starting last month AZ-NORML began touring the state presenting legalization education to political and social groups from Mohave County to Cochise County. The group is currently in talks with Benson, Wickenburg and Flagstaff for upcoming events (as well as a 2nd show in Kingman) but hopes to schedule dozens more in the twelve months leading up to the election.
“There are 90 cities and towns in the state NOT named Phoenix,” Weisser laughed. “I am sure the campaign will be staging numerous events for Phoenicians, but my family and I live in rural AZ, like a lot of folks and we all want to take part.” In 2016 rural Arizonans proved much more likely to vote against legalization than urbanites.
